Welcome to the Wethersfield Historic Properties Database

The Wethersfield Historic District Commission is pleased to provide this inventory of information on the historic properties in Town. Information on the 1,100 historic structures located in the Old Wethersfield Historic District in Wethersfield, Connecticut is being made available to the general public, property owners, researchers and the members of the Historic District Commission.

This inventory was developed to provide basic property information and a continuing record of the historic properties in Town. The database can be queried by entering the address of the property or by searching by other criteria including year of construction, building style, roof type etc. The site also contains recent photographs of the buildings in the District.

The Old Wethersfield Historic District was established as a local historic district in 1962 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. The result of this early step toward preserving the town's historic resources is that there are over 150 remaining structures built before 1850 within the district's boundaries. As one of the oldest recognized towns in Connecticut, Wethersfield has done much to retain the historic character of a suburban community vulnerable to the effects of urban sprawl. Despite the level of growth it has experienced in the last century, Wethersfield's history has remained a central focus of the town. Early historic preservation efforts have helped this town to preserve a large swath of its past in the form of the Old Wethersfield Historic District.
